Strong winds do damage

October 27, 2008 By admin

Strong winds are still whipping across much of Iowa this morning, after causing some damage over the weekend. Winds gusting over 50 miles per hour were the rule for much of Sunday across north central Iowa. The high winds caused a power outage that affected much of Webster City on Sunday morning.

Several churches in the community carried on with their services and Sunday School without electricity. The same outage affected residents of Woolstock in southern Wright County. The power was off from about 10:15 until 11:20 yesterday morning.

Another report was received regarding a giant tree limb damaging a parked pickup truck on a residential street in Webster City. There were many reports of limbs blown off of trees in the community but no structural damage was reported as a result of the high winds of yesterday.
