Woman dies in Guthrie County accident

November 20, 2008 By admin

An elderly motorist was killed Wednesday night when her car rear-ended a tractor in western Iowa’s Guthrie County. The Iowa State Patrol says 73-year-old Nancy Faye Johnson, of Coon Rapids, died from injuries she suffered when her 1992 Pontiac Bonneville collided with the back of 1996 Case Tractor that was pulling an anhydrous ammonia tank.

Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt. The accident happened at around 8:10 p.m. about five-miles south of Coon Rapids on Chestnut Road. The patrol says the accident happened because the driver of the tractor, 46-year-old Steve Blass, of Coon Rapids, did not have the required lighting on the rear of his implement.
