Fonda man faces several charges

December 1, 2008 By admin

Police in the northwest Iowa town of Fonda were called to break up a domestic dispute late Saturday. An officer was greeted by the sounds of breaking glass and someone fleeing the scene in a stolen car.

The subject had reportedly attacked the victim of the home through his front door with a ten-inch military style knife. The stolen car was stopped shortly thereafter by a Pocahontas County deputy sheriff. At that time, 26-year-old Rex Thompson of Fonda was taken into custody without incident.

Thompson, who was injured while breaking windows, was attempting to flee back to Chicago. Charges of attempted murder, second-degree theft, second-degree criminal mischief and other charges are filed against Thompson. The victim and others at the home were unharmed. Damage to the residence is estimated at $4,000.
