Driver killed in accident on I-80

December 4, 2008 By admin

One person died after the van they were driving collided with a semi on Interstate 80 Wednesday morning in Iowa County. The preliminary Iowa State Patrol report states that at about 8:45 a.m., the westbound semi driven by Brian Beard of Auburndale, Florida, went out of control on the ice just east of the Marengo interchange.

It crossed the median and came to rest on the eastbound lanes. An oncoming van collided with the trailer unit and came to a rest in the median. The driver of the van was killed and the identity is being withheld pending notification. The eastbound lanes of I-80 were blocked for about an hour and a half.
