Iowa State downs UNI in overtime

December 4, 2008 By admin

Craig Brackins had 32 points and a career-high 16 rebounds as Iowa State edged UNI 71-66 in overtime in a Big Four men’s basketball matchup in Cedar Falls. The game was close throughout and featured 14 ties and 16 lead changes.

The victory snapped a ten game road losing streak for the Cyclones who next up host Oregon State. For ISU coach Greg McDermott it was his first victory against the school he played and coached for.

McDermott says Northern Iowa means a lot to him and he says he will always have a special place for UNI in his heart and says coaching against a best friend also makes it a hard game for him.

He says he’s just glad to get a win on the road in front of a big crowd. Iowa State improves to 5-1. UNI falls to 4-3.
