Wartburg is on the road in the quarterfinal round of the division three playoffs to take on defending champion Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Knights are on a roll right now and advanced with a last second win over Monmouth of Illinois, their second straight playoff win on the road.

Wartburg coach Rick Willis says the big thing is playing as close to error and mistake free football that you can and have guys step up and make big plays. He says this is what has been happening recently and they need more of the same. This is the furthest a Wartburg team has ever advanced in the post season.

Willis says every step they take is uncharted territory and it gives them a chance to leave a mark on the program. The weather could be a major factor in the outcome. Whitewater is expected to receive about an inch of snow today and the snow is expected to continue right up until kickoff.

Willis says they play on field turf, and that should be in good shape and the surface should be good. He says the biggest thing that will have an impact is probably the wind.

Whitewater coach Lance Leipold says this is a much different team than the one that won the national title as it has grown into its own identity. Leipold says Wartburg has not needed a home field advantage, winning two games on the road and thriving on that. He says sometimes going on the road eliminates a lot of the distractions.
