Mason City woman dies after kitchen fire

December 11, 2008 By admin

A Mason City woman has died after suffering burns in a kitchen fire. Firefighters back on Monday morning were called to the home of Elaine Person after a report that a woman ran from her home after her clothing caught on fire while trying to put out a cooking fire.

Fire officials say Person suffered extensive burns and was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City before being taken to the burn center at Hennipen County Medical Center in Minneapolis for further treatment. Person died late Tuesday of the burns.
