Shonn Greene finalist for tonight’s Doak Walker award

December 11, 2008 By admin

Iowa junior running back Shonn Greene could receive his biggest post-season award, yet. After setting a single season Hawkeye rushing mark Greene is a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the nation’s top running back.

The winner will be anounced tonight in Orlando, Florida. Greene says he’s very honored to be named a finalist as there are a lot of great backs in colleges football.

Greene helped lead the Hawks to an 8-4 record and a trip to the Outback Bowl. He has already been named a first team All-American and the Big Ten Conference most valuable player. Greene says it’s a pleasure because at this point last year he didn’t think he would be in this situation. Greene says the credit goes to his teammates and the Iowa staff.
