The Iowa State women have been off this week for final exams and will return to action on Sunday at home against Minnesota. The Cyclones are 7-2 after rolling past Detroit Mercy and coach Bill Fennelly says his team must get ready for the physical test the Gophers will offer.
Fennelly says Minnesota is a very good and physical team. Fennelly says with the Big-12 race approaching this will be a good way to gauge their progress. He says they need to prove they can play against very good teams after losing two games against good teams where he says they didn’t play well.
Iowa State’s only losses have been to Stanford and Iowa. Fennelly says the series with Minnesota has been a good one and has been popular with the fans. He says they’re trying to bring in good nonconference teams and will bring in Vanderbilt later in the year.
Minnesota coach Pam Borton says the Cyclones will be tough to guard as the execute well in the half court. Borton says the Hilton crowd will provide a great atmosphere with 10 to 12,000 people. Minnesota is 8-2 and has not played since a December ninth loss to South Dakota State.
