The Iowa State Patrol is investigating an accident that happened Sunday afternoon in Ames that killed a 62-year-old Indianola man. He is identified as Michael Dee.

Reportedly, Dee was standing at the rear of a semi trailer in an Ames parking lot when the rear of the trailer operated by Jessie Hastie of Pleasant Hill backed over Dee. Dee was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.

Authorities have released details of a fatal weekend crash in north-central Iowa. One person was killed, one injured, as the result of a two-vehicle accident early Saturday afternoon on Highway 18 west of Britt in Hancock County. The Iowa State Patrol identified the fatality as that of 62-year-old Duane Hanna of Woden. He was the driver of a 1997 Plymouth Voyager.

The injured driver was identified as 46-year-old Timothy Hejlik of Garner. He was taken to the Britt Hospital by the Britt Fire and Rescue Department. The cause of Saturday’s accident remains under investigation by the State Patrol with assistance by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
