One person was killed and another was injured Saturday night when a semi-truck rear-ended another semi on Interstate 80 in Adair County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened just after 8:30 P-M on I-80 eastbound, about two-miles west of Stuart.

Officials say a 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 51-year-old Donald Embry, of Bay City, Texas, was traveling very slowly eastbound on the interstate because of engine problems, when it was rear-ended by a 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 38-year-old Igor Melinetskiy, of Vancouver, Washington.

The second semi burst into flames upon impact, killing Melinetskiy. His body was brought to the State Medical Examiner’s lab for identification and autopsy. Embry was injured during the crash, and brought to the Adair County Hospital in Greenfield by Stuart Rescue.
