Weather could be factor in fatal crash near Badger

December 22, 2008 By admin

Authorities say wintry weather conditions Saturday night were a factor in a two-car crash in Webster County that killed a Badger woman and injured another motorist. The Iowa State Patrol identified the fatality as that of 54-year-old Cheryl Lynne Reed. The accident happened east of county road P-56 on county road C-56 west of Badger.

Reportedly the 2000 Buick Le Sabre driven by Reed was traveling eastbound when it lost control and slid into the path of a westbound 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Kristin Marie Peters of Badger. The Peters vehicle struck the left side of the Reed car. Both drivers were taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Reed was pronounced dead while Peters was treated at the hospital. The accident remains under investigation by the State Patrol and the Webster County Sheriff’s Department.
