Iowa having fun in the Florida sun, but also working

December 30, 2008 By admin

Iowa players enjoy activities in Tampa. The Iowa Hawkeyes have been mixing in some fun with hard work as they get set to take on South Carolina in the Outback Bowl.

Junior running back Shonn Greene says the Hawks have done a good job of focusing on the game when it’s time for practice.

Greene says the weather has been beautiful and everyone has been having a nice time with the events set up by the OutBack Bowl.

While they are having fun, Greene says when it’s time to go to work in practice, they go to work and he feels they’ve accomplished a lot.

With temperatures in the 80s all week senior defensive tackle Mitch King says it’s important for the players to adjust. He says you have to hydrate and eat well in these temperatures and they know what it is like having played in such conditions before.

King says what makes this game interesting is it is the first time these two programs have ever met. He says that’s the best thing about bowl games, is you get to face someone different and it brings a different aspect to the game.

After a practice this morning both teams will head to Clearwater Beach in the afternoon.  Photo courtesy of the Outback Bowl, see more photos on the Outback Bowl website.
