Kroul hopes hard work will lead to NFL spot

January 5, 2009 By admin

Running back Shonn Greene is not the only Iowa football player hoping to move on to the National Football League. Senior defensive tackle Matt Kroul would also like to move on to the next level. The Mount Vernon native had been a mainstay on the defensive line for the Hawkeyes.

He made his 50th consecutive start in a 31-10 victory over South Carolina in last week’s Outback Bowl. Kroul says anyone who has the chance to get paid to do something they love would want to try it, and he is ready to try it.

Kroul knows he won’t be highly sought after and will need to earn his way onto a roster. He says he’s not a top five round draft pick, but says his plan is to keep doing it the "Iowa way" and work hard and hopefully end up somewhere.
