More details released on Webster County embezzelment case

January 5, 2009 By admin

Authorities in north-central Iowa are releasing more details about an alleged embezzlement case. A former Deputy City Clerk in the Webster County Community of Dayton was charged with second-degree theft on Friday.

Thirty-five-year-old Jessie Sorenson made an appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court in Fort Dodge after being accused of taking over $1,384 from the city of Dayton’s utilities account. The theft occurred between last March and October. Sorenson was employed by the city for a year and has since been terminated.

Sorenson was later released and her case was transferred to Webster County District Court. If convicted, Sorenson could face five years in prison and a fine of up to 75-hundred dollars.
