Creighton poses big test for UNI

January 6, 2009 By admin

The UNI Panthers take a two game winning streak on the road in the Missouri Valley Conference to take on Creighton. UNI coach Ben Jacobsen says the Panthers will need a big effort if they want to snap a nine game losing streak in the series.

Jacobsen says Creighton is so versatile on offense that it makes them hard to defend. He says they can spread the floor and then drive the ball, and have a number of good outside shooters. Jacobsen says the Blue Jays also can play all 94 feet of the floor and press you, so they make you prepare for everything.

Creighton coach Dana Altman says the Panthers have played at a different level in the past week. Altman says UNI is shooting almost 50% from the three point line and over that from the field. The Blue Jays are 13-2 overall but Altman says there are a number of areas that need improvement. He says they are not a good rebounding team, which has hurt them, and the defense has been inconsistent.

UNI is 8-6 overall and both teams are 2-1 in the Valley.
