The Iowa State Cyclones closed out non-conference play with a 64-56 win over a Houston Baptist team that entered the game with a 1-14 record. It was a performance that did not impress Cyclone coach Greg McDermott.

McDermott says you can tell the players over and over that Houston Baptist is not a bad team and defensively, outside of not rebounding the basketball, they were o.k.

McDermott says he will have the players attention in practice. "At the end of the day it’s a win, and we will learn from it," McDermot says. McDermott says they will need to be much better this weekend when they open the Big 12 race at Texas.

McDermott says they will get better, and says they had some really foolish turnovers, and he says they haven’t played the poorly recently. Craig Brackins had 22 points as the Cyclones improved to 11-4.
