Former Central College president has new job

January 9, 2009 By admin

After resigning over a picture on a pleasure boat showing him drinking beer with a group of young people, the former president of Iowa Central Community College will have a new job next week. Robert Paxton will become the president of National American University in Rapid City, South Dakota, and its distance learning campus.

Paxton resigned late last August after a controversial photo shot last summer at Lake Okoboji appeared in the Des Moines Register. National American University was started in 1941 as the National School of Business. The school offers programs designed to train students for specific careers.

The school operates campuses in Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Minnesota and Missouri. The search for Paxton’s replacement at Iowa Central is continuing with the goal of having a new president in place by next fall. Iowa Central operates campuses in Fort Dodge, Webster City and Storm Lake.
