Another Iowan serving in Obama Administration

January 21, 2009 By admin

Another Iowan has landed in the Obama administration.

In 1998, John Norris was working in Washington, D.C., but he came back to Iowa to serve as chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party to support the final push of Democrat Tom Vilsack’s first campaign for governor. Once Vilsack took office, he asked Norris to serve as his chief of staff.

Vilsack has once again asked Norris to serve in that role. Vilsack is the new U.S. Ag Secretary and Norris will be the chief of staff for the U.S.D.A.

John Norris, who is a lawyer, has been chairman of the Iowa Utilities Board since 2005. He and his wife, Jackie, sold their house in Des Moines earlier this month to move to D.C. Jackie Norris is serving as First Lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff.
