Iowa women get break during hot streat

January 22, 2009 By admin

When a team is riding a winning steak it would like to continue to play but the Iowa Hawkeye women don’t get that chance this week. The Hawkeyes host Michigan on Monday night and have not played since Sunday’s convincing win over Northwestern, their third straight victory.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says it’s an odd week with the eight day layoff as they want to keep playing. She says the go back to the fundamentals and don’t put a lot of new stuff in.

Bluder says the Wolverines will provide a tough test, as they had a rough non-conference schedule and beat some good teams like Kentucky, Vanderbilt, N.C. State, but haven’t done as well in the conference. Their last three games have been a 4 point, 6 point and 4 point loss.

Iowa is 11-7 overall and 4-3 in the Big Ten.
