Two die in Hampton apartment fire

February 16, 2009 By admin

A fatal weekend fire in north-central Iowa is under investigation. An investigation is underway to try and determine the cause of an apartment fire in Hampton that claimed the lives of two people and injured four others including a fireman.

The call was received at about 2:45 Saturday afternoon at 319 First Avenue, Southeast. When firemen arrived, they assisted the residents inside the four-apartment complex who were trying to escape.

The names of the two people who were killed and those injured have not been released. The State Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate the cause with the Hampton Fire Department.
