Iowa Speedway off to good start

May 19, 2009 By admin

Iowa Speedway officials say the crowd was better than 22,000 on both nights during the opening weekend of action. NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch won Sunday’s Long Johns Silver 200 and track president Jerry Jauron says not only are the crowds growing at the facility but the number of sponsors as well.

Jauron says they are in negotiations with several "prominent national companies" to advertise at the speedway. The sponsorship growth comes at a time when many companies are cutting back on their sponsorship budgets. Jauron says things are tough, but the Iowa Speedway is the fastest growing track in the country and that gives advertisers a positive story.

He says they project 300,000 fans, which is a lot of exposure for advertisers. The next race weekend begins on June 19th when the Indy Car series returns for the third year.
