Crescent man found guilty of attempted murder, conspiracy

June 5, 2009 By admin

A verdict has been returned in the case against a western Iowa man charged with hiring a hit man to kill witnesses in his sex abuse case.

In reaching their verdict Thursday, jurors found 31-year-old Terry Leggio, of Crescent, guilty of five counts of attempt to commit murder, five counts of conspiracy to commit murder and five counts of solicitation to commit murder.

Their decision was handed down in Pottawattamie County District Court. Leggio was charged after he tried to hire a man to kill two children whom he had sexually abused, along with the children’s sister, their mother and the lead Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s investigator in the abuse case.

Sentencing for Leggio is set for June 15.
