Another 150 workers in north-central Iowa learned that next Monday, June 15th, will be their last day on the job. Electrolux spokesman Tony Evans said the layoffs are due to the final phase of production adjustments related to the transition of front-load washer and companion dryers at the Webster City plant.

Next week will be the final week that one model of front loading washers will be manufactured at the Webster City Electrolux facility. Evans said the layoffs are temporary with the possibility that the workers could be recalled in market conditions improve. Since last November the Webster City Electrolux plant has laid off over 500 workers.

It was over three years ago, in February of 2006, Electrolux announced that 700 workers would be laid off at the Webster City plant because the production of the front loading washers and dryers was moving to Mexico. There are an estimated 1,000 people currently employed at the Electrolux plant.
