The senior third baseman was nearly perfect at the plate with nine hits in 11 trips in four games. He slammed four home runs on the week, drove in 10 runs and crossed the plate 10 times. VanNess slammed a pair of homers and drove in two runs in a victory over Sioux Central and also had two home runs and scored four times in a victory over Red Oak. He also earned the victory on the mound by giving up just three hits and striking out eight.
