Officials release identity of northwest Iowa woman who died in fire

Authorities today released the name of a 75-year-old northwest Iowa woman who died of smoke inhalation in a weekend fire.

The fire was reported shortly after five Saturday morning at a residence in Holstein. Frances Fricke-Kiertzner was found inside the house by the Holstein Fire Department. Fricke-Kiertzner was taken to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove where she was pronounced dead.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, she died of smoke inhalation. The Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office has yet to determine the cause of the fire.
