14-year-old held in connection with "suspicious" death of three-year-old

July 12, 2009 By admin

Floyd County authorities are still investigating a suspicious death as a 14-year-old boy from Charles City is being held in jail on a charge of first-degree sexual abuse.

Edgar Concepcion, Junior, of 406 South Johnson Street in Charles City was being held in the Black Hawk County detention facility on suspicion of first-degree sexual abuse after the initial investigation into the death of three-year-old Krystel Banes.

Authorities were called to that same Johnson Street address on Friday afternoon after a call stated that the girl had become unresponsive. Banes was taken to Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City, where she was pronounced dead.

Police would not say if Banes death is connected to Concepcion’s arrest, but they say more charges could be pending as their investigation continues.
