State baseball spots being decided

July 21, 2009 By admin

A spot in the state high school baseball tournament is up for grabs this evening when Tri-County of Thornburg takes on Burlington Notre Dame in a class 1A sub-state matchup. Tri-County enters the game having won nine in a row.

Tri-County coach Scott Edmondson says they started out 2-3 and then put things together and got the batting order worked out and defensive positions where they should be. Edmondson says they also are playing more like a team now and not as individuals.

Edmondson says his team will need to play well defensively and limit the mistakes they make. He says they have a decent pitching rotation that should allow them to advance in the tournament.
