A 27-year-old Corwith woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when her car collided with a semi in rural Hancock County. The name of the victim is Amy Lynn Hefty.

The accident happened at the junctions of county roads B-55 and R-26 east of Corwith. The Iowa State Patrol reported that a westbound 2003 Toyota Celica driven by Hefty collided with a northbound 2001 Freightliner semi driven by Allen J. Enabnit of Clear Lake. Reportedly the semi failed to stop at the stop sign posted at the intersection.

Hefty was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Enabnit was flown to a Mason City hospital and was listed in fair condition. The accident remains under investigation by the State Patrol and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
