Sibley man dies in accident

September 12, 2009 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Authorities have released the name of the northwest Iowa man who was killed in a crash Friday night near the town of George. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:25 P.M., 22-year-old Juan Armando Ayala of Sibley was driving southbound on Marsh Avenue, six miles east of George, or six miles south of Little Rock in a Toyota.

Forty-nine-year-old Loralyn Korthals of George was driving a 2007 Chevy eastbound on 210th Street. Ayala failed to stop at the controlled intersection, and was struck by Korthals. Ayala was pronounced dead at the scene.

Korthals was transported to a hospital in Sheldon.
