Northwestern continues to win

October 21, 2009 By Todd Kimm

Northwestern College continues to win and climb in the national rankings. The Red Raiders are 12th in this week’s N-A-I-A top-25. They are 6-1 on the season and have won five straight games and coach Kyle Achterhoff says part of the reason is a running game which averages nearly 230 yards per contest.

The Red Raiders begin the stretch run of the season this weekend with a visit to Briar Cliff. He says they have three tough opponents left, but have set themselves up for a strong finish and playoff run.

Briar Cliff is 2-5 and Achterhoff says the Chargers are vastly improved. He says they’ve always been very strong defensively, especially defending the run. He says they also are playing well offensively.

Unbeaten Morningside remains fifth this week and Grand View College debuts at number 25.
