Anita man dies in accident

November 16, 2009 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A western Iowa man is dead, another injured, after a single-vehicle rollover accident Sunday morning in Cass County. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 1999 Chevy Cavalier was traveling east on Boone Road, about three-miles northeast of Anita, when for reasons unknown, the car went out of control and overturned into the south ditch.

Two of the vehicles occupants, 22-year-old Brandon Jeffrey Hacker, and 18-year-old Callyn Scott Vincent Pollock, both from Anita, were ejected from the car as it rolled. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt. Both men were taken by Anita Rescue to the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, where Hacker died from his injuries.

A report on Pollock’s condition was not available late Sunday afternoon. It’s not clear which of the men was driving the car, and the accident, which happened at around 3 A.M. Sunday, remains under investigation.
