UNI hosts Iowa in basketball

December 8, 2009 By Dar Danielson

Northern Iowa looks for its second win in the in-state basketball matchups tonight when the Panthers host Iowa at Cedar Falls. U.N.I. coach Ben Jacobson says the series is big for the players. Jacobson says the guys are excited and are every year as he says they get more into these games because of their importance around the state. Iowa comes into the game at 3-5, but Jacobson says they have been improving.

He says Iowa has played good basketball the last ten days, much different than the first ten days. Jacobson says young basketball teams are that way and once they get more experience they play better. Iowa has won the last two games in this series and Jacobson says they will pose a challenge once again.

Jacobson says Iowa can stretch you out with their ball screens and have a number of guys who can shoot the three, while they can also go with a bigger lineup. U.N.I. is looking to build on its 5-1 start.
