Authorities in southwest Iowa say a man armed with an axe robbed a bank on Monday afternoon. Council Bluffs police say a white male, weighing about 175 pounds and wearing a long tan coat over a shorter jacket, along with a dark-colored ski mask and glasses, entered the Frontier Bank on 23rd Avenue and struck-up a conversation with the teller.

While they were talking, the man pulled out an axe and moved toward the teller and threatened to use the weapon if he didn’t get any money. The teller backed away from the man, who grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and ran out of the bank. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say the man is to be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Council Bluffs Police Department.
