Victims identified in fatal Clinton fire

December 17, 2009 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Family members have identified the Clinton woman and her son killed in the Wednesday morning apartment fire. Twenty-two-year-old Angel Herman and her two-year-old son, Cyrus, died in the fire, according to family members. The Clinton Fire Department was called to the apartment complex at 202 Bluff early yesterday morning and found smoke and fire coming from one of the apartments.

That fire was quickly extinguished and search of the apartment located the victims. Autopsies are being conducted to help determine the cause of death and confirm the identities. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but fire department officials are quoted as saying there was not a working smoke detector in the apartment and that several of the other apartments did not have working smoke detectors.
