When the Iowa State Cyclones open the Big-12 race at home on Wednesday night they will host the nation’s top ranked team. Texas moved into the top spot for the first time in school history after previously top ranked Kansas lost to Tennessee on Sunday. Kentucky is second in the AP poll while the Jayhawks fall to third. I.S.U. closed out non conference play 11-4 after holding off an upset bid by North Dakota State on Saturday.

He says they’ve lacked consistency as they can play really, really well in stretches, and they’ve also had stretches where they don’t do well. Coach Greg McDermott says they had 30 minutes of good play against Duke, but it was the 10 minutes that hurt them when they didn’t play well.

McDermott who says the Cyclones cannot afford to be inconsistent in the Big-12. he says the league is too good to not be ready to play every minute of every game. McDermott says they have played a challenging non-conference schedule to prepare themselves for the conference and they have to fix the things that are wrong and fix them quickly.
