Iowa State coach Greg McDermott says Saturday’s win at Nebraska has provided the Cyclones with a much needed boost of confidence. After opening the Big 12 race with a loss at home to top ranked Texas the Cyclones responded with a 56-53 win over the Huskers which snapped a 16 game conference road losing skid.

“My good friends at the Big 12 gave us three road games and Kansas and Texas at home to start the season, and that’s a tough stretch,” McDermott says. He says to get a win on the road gives them a lot of confidence as they travel to play Texas Tech.

McDermott says it was a big win because it was a low possession game. He says it was the first time this season they were able to win one of those games. McDermott says they had similar games against Northwestern and UNI, but weren’t able to make the plays at the end of the game to win.

Iowa State is 12-5 and will visit Texas Tech on Wednesday night.
