ISU women lose at K-state

February 1, 2010 By Todd Kimm

The 22nd ranked Iowa State women lost at Kansas State 73-67 in Big 12 play on Sunday. K-State standout Ashlery Sweat finished with 31 points as the Cyclones had their four game winning streak snapped.

Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly says their defense was “nonexistent” and Sweat did what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it. Fennelly says they specifically worked on the plays that she scored on, but they were unable to stop it. Fennelly says they got pushed around in the post and didn’t finish and now everyone is guarding the three-point shot and that has hampered their offense without anything going on in the post.

The Cyclones fall to 4-3 in the Big-12. Fennelly says it’s disappointing coming off a four-game win streak against a division foe you have a chance to beat.
