The 24th ranked U.N.I. Panthers can take a big step toward the Missouri Valley Conference title when they host Wichita State on Wednesday night. At 10-1, the Panthers lead the Shockers by two games in the standings and will be out to avenge a loss in Wichita two weeks ago.

U.N.I. coach Ben Jacobsen says the Shockers are balanced and playing very well and have some depth inside. He says the Panthers are not focused on what the outcome of this game means for the league race. Jacobsen says the team has been able to take the positive and not so good in stride and continue to practice to get ready for each game.

Wichita State is 8-3 in the Valley race and coach Greg Marshall says the Shockers need this win. He says if they want to win the regular season title, this gives them a chance, but they will still need some help. Marshall says it will be almost impossible to catch U.N.I. if they don’t win this game.

Marshall says it will be a great challenge as the Panthers have not lost at home. U.N.I. is 19-2 overall. Wichita State is 19-4.
