Drake snapped a four game losing streak on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs overcame 42 percent shooting by making 31 of 41 free throws in a 79-72 win over Southern Illinois in the Knapp Center.
Drake coach Mark Phelps says they didn’t shoot the ball well or rebound well, but they did take care of the ball and didn’thave many turnovers. He says they also made enough free throws to win. Ryan Wedel led the Bulldogs with 17 points and Josh Young ad 13 despite going just two of 11 from the field.
Phelps says Young was terrific, and despite not shooting very well, he had 8 rebounds to lead the team and made 8 free throws.
Drake is now 12-16 on the season.
