Murder trial for Charles City teen moved to Hamilton County

April 7, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Floyd County judge has agreed to move the first-degree murder trial of a Charles City teenager. Judge Bryan McKinley has moved the trial of 14-year-old Edgar Concepcion Junior from Charles City to Hamilton County.

Concepcion is accused of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse in last July’s death of his three-year-old cousin, Krystel Banes. McKinley, in his ruling, also refused to grant pretrial release for Concepcion, saying that he deems him as a flight risk. Concepcion continues to be held on $1 million bond. McKinley says Concepcion’s trial will start on May 4th in Webster City.
