Human remains found in Davenport identified

April 13, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The human remains found near Davenport have been identified. An autopsy is scheduled in hopes of determining a cause of death, but the Scott County Medical Examiner’s Office has used dental records to identify some human remains.

They were found on uninhabited property near the Scott County Landfill. The remains are those of 51-year-old David Spriet Jr., who owned the property and the mobile home that sits on it. He hadn’t been seen since February 2009.

Deputies and the Iowa D.C.I. used search-and-rescue dogs to comb the area Friday after receiving a tip where to look. The remains were found in a pile of debris. Sheriff Dennis Conard says they have a person of interest in the case.
