Murder trial to begin for northeast Iowa teen

May 18, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The trial of a northeast Iowa teenager who’s accused in the death of his three-year-old cousin is set to begin today in Webster City. Fifteen-year-old Edgar Concepcion, Junior, of Charles City is facing charges of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse in the death of Krystel Banes on July 10th of last year.

The trial is being held in Hamilton County District Court instead of Floyd County due to pretrial publicity. Jury selection will be underway for much of the day today before opening statements will be heard in Hamilton County District Court.
