Des Moines called 4th most dangerous driving city

May 19, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Insurance-dot-com is releasing its list of the Top Ten most dangerous cities in America for drivers — and one Iowa city made the list.

From fender-benders to totaled cars, some cities are known for demolition derby-style driving and that means auto owners are likely paying more for auto insurance.

While we expect large cities to be on the list, like Baltimore and Austin, there were some surprises. Des Moines ranks 4th most dangerous on the ratings, while our neighbors to the west, Lincoln, Nebraska, ranks 10th. On the flip side, some of the safest cities with low collision rates include, believe it or not, Los Angeles and Chicago.
