Colfax-Mingo students will get a few extra days of summer vacation courtesy of the record flooding. Superintendent Tina Ross says school was to start this Thursday (August 19th), but that has now been pushed back to Monday the 23rd. Ross says none of the school buildings were damaged by flooding in and around Colfax, but the roads were.

Ross says the roads in some cases are still impassible, and there are a number of students and teachers who have been impacted by the flooding and are not back in their homes yet. Ross says pushing back the school start day gives everyone more time to handle the situation.

Ross says they are just trying to help everyone get as ready as they possibly can be for the start of the school year. Some 300 Colfax residents were forced from their homes last Wednesday morning by the flooding.
