Marshall County jailer part of drug arrest

September 3, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

One of the nine people arrested in Wednesday’s drug raid had been working at the Marshall County Jail. A statement released by the Marshall County Sheriff’s office says 41-year-old Soraya Armas had been employed as a jailer since October, 2000.

The statement says the department was fully briefed on the situation, and it was decided to keep Armas on staff at the jail and closely monitor her activities, and at no time did her employment threaten personnel or operations at the jail. Soraya Armas was one of eight people arrested Wednesday and charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

A ninth person was arrested on a charge of aiding and abetting a felon in possession of a firearm.
