Iowa travelers who use the airports in Des Moines and Omaha will soon have several new potential destinations. Frontier Airlines is expanding its service, adding direct flights from Des Moines to Denver in October with special fares to Seattle and San Francisco. Steve Coufal, executive director of the Omaha Airport Authority, says Frontier is also expanding its service from Omaha to both coasts.

“They’re a great low-cost carrier and West Coast service, especially to L-A-X, has been service that our customers, both business and leisure, have been requesting for some time.” Coufal says there are several other additions to the Frontier schedule coming after the first of the year.

“Los Angeles begins February 14th, three days a week,” he says. “Orlando starts January 15th. San Diego and St. Petersburg (Florida) begin January 16th.” Coufal says this is the first time there will be non-stop service from Omaha to St. Pete.

“And that’s a very popular destination in the winter months. It is known for quality beaches and also cruise sports.” Introductory fares from Omaha will be offered for $89 one way and for as low as $59 from Des Moines to Denver, and $109 from Des Moines to Seattle or San Francisco.
