There’s more than students on the Iowa State University campus in Ames these days as representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are looking over buildings damaged in last month’s flooding.

I.S.U. president, Gregory Geoffroy, says there’s a lot of work ahead. “I think we’re going to be very close to FEMA for quite some time,” Goeffroy says. He says they’re looking at buildings and continue to evaluate the damage to help determine what the university needs to do to move forward.

Geoffroy says it will be awhile before they can estimate the dollar amount of damage. Geoffroy says there’s still a lot of evaluation that needs to take place, as he says they had a lot of ballpark estimates, but it is premature to put a dollar figure on the damage.

Hilton Coliseum was one of the hardest hit buildings and the university hopes to have it repaired and open for the first basketball game of the season in November.
