A north-central Iowa man is facing prison time after pleading guilty to charges that he threatened to post sexually explicit photos of his former girlfriend that were taken when she was a minor. Twenty-five-year-old Garrett Roegner of Plymouth was convicted of transporting child pornography and extortion.

As part of a plea agreement, Roegner admitted sending messages on MySpace.com to a former girlfriend this summer. One of the messages included two attached pictures of the girl engaged in sexually explicit conduct with Roegner when she was 17 and he was 19-years-old. Roegner threatened to post the photos on the Internet unless she agreed to meet him.

Police searched Roegner’s home on June 17th and found printed copies of the pictures. A sentencing date has not been set, but Roegner faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, with a possible maximum sentence of 22 years.
