Enthusiasts of a motorized bike manufactured in Webster City over 60 years ago will converge on the north central Iowa community this weekend. Vern Ratcliff is the organizer of the Doodlebug Reunion at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. Ratcliff says the doodlebugs were built in the 1940’s.

He says they were built from 1946 to 1948 and were out of existence for several years before they decided to hold the first reunion, and now this is the 24th reunion. He says the event has grown every year. Ratcliff says they started out with around six doodlebugs on display and only a couple of them ran. Last year they had over 80 of the scooters on display. Ratcliff said visitors will not only see the Doodlebugs but a variety of other scooters will be highlighted…

Ratcliff says they concentrate on doodlebugs, but let everyone know that any type of scooter is welcome.

The reunion runs today from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00.
